How is iLASIK performed?
In traditional LASIK procedures, the doctor would create a flap around the cornea to make incisions that reshaped the eye for vision clarity in patients who have astigmatism, nearsightedness, and farsightedness. However, our blade-free iLASIK procedure uses lasers to create the flap instead. This improves the precision of surgery and ensures results without conventional cutting.
Prior to having iLASIK performed, patients will have a three-dimensional, computerized map made of their eye. This is done with iLASIK WaveScan technology available at Richens Eye Center. Then, this map is used alongside the STAR S4 IR Excimer Laser which then corrects the eye shape exactly as required for better eyesight. Many patients find that this treatment is far easier than traditional LASIK procedures, and most patients are less anxious about the surgery thanks to the precision offered with lasers. The laser device makes iLASIK safer and more effective than traditional LASIK surgeries and provides incredible results for patients.
