BotoxWhile our team is pleased to provide vision services at Richens Eye Center, Dr. Sharon Richens also wants to assist patients in looking and feeling their best. With cosmetic treatment such as Botox, patients in the areas of Mesquite, NV and St. George, UT are welcome to visit to improve their appearance. Botox is a popular injectable treatment that has been used for many years to address a wide range of medical concerns, including cosmetic wrinkles and folds that develop on the facial area.

How does Botox work?

Botox is one of many neuromodulators available on the market today. Neuromodulators are used to reduce muscle contractions using botulinum toxin type A. By injecting Botox into specific muscles of the face that result in the appearance of dynamic wrinkles and folds, these areas can be smoothed. Fine lines and wrinkles are greatly decreased, and the result can last several months before reinjection is required to maintain the improvements. Dr. Sharon Richens finds that most patients tolerate the injections well without the use of anesthetics.

What about dermal fillers?

Another option is that of Restylane. Restylane is a hyaluronic acid filler that can also be used to achieve the results of smoother, youthful skin. Restylane adds volume immediately to the fine lines and wrinkles it is injected into. It can be used on more areas of the face, and can even be used at the same time as Botox injections. By combining both Botox and Restylane, patients can obtain more dramatic results. Of course, some patients with severe signs of aging and skin laxity may only be able to achieve noticeable results with traditional surgery.
